Ein Kollektivgedanke eben,
einer, der keinem
Individuum angehört.

The thematic network “Literature – Knowledge – Media” is a binational exchange and research program funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and launched in the summer semester 2015. The framework of the interdisciplinary project is made up of a joint research program examining constellations of literature, knowledge, and media.

Coordinated by the Humboldt-Universität, the network aims to establish close cooperations on both a professional and thematic level with the American partner institutions of literary and cultural studies, the history of science, art history, and media studies. Participating in the network are Cornell University, Humboldt-Universität, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, New York University, Princeton University, the University of California/Berkeley, and Yale University. With the Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung (Berlin) and the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte (Berlin) two further non-university research institutes complete the network.

The research cooperation involves regular events, workshops, conferences, and a joint summer school. In addition, a range of exchange programs and mobility schemes allows for a constant exchange of scholars at all levels in the participating institutions and disciplines.

The official languages of the network “Literature – Knowledge – Media” are German and English.
